The 911 Carrera
1974-1977
Porsche made a lot of changes for 1974. There were three 911s available in 1974: the 911 2.7, the 911 Carrera, and the 911S. The Carrera had a 2.7L engine as well, but produced 175hp. The body was different from past Porsche 911s, mainly the new bigger bumpers. The Carrera now had the new whaletail. Most Carreras have Carrera printed on the lower door. In 1975, the Carrera only made 165hp, because the new emissions required Porsche to make a new exhaust system. In 1976, the U.S. was introduced to the 911 Turbo or 930, which replaced the Carrera in the U.S, but the Carrera was still exported to other countries around the world. The Carrera was changed in 1976, it now had a 3.0L, which made 200hp. In 1978, the Carrera was replaced by the 911 SC, or Super Carrera.
